No Greater Love

Over the next few days, a lot of words will be shared regarding Jesus’ Crucifixion and Resurrection and they should be.
It’s absolutely the most important truth EVER, and if you
know Him, you want others to know Him as well.
Many will share beautiful memes, and eloquent words, but I keep coming back to this:
He didn’t have to do it.
He CHOSE to do it.
God could have left us in our sinful state, separated from Him for eternity, with no chance for redemption. He could have said, “Oh well. You had your shot and you blew it.”
But, He didn’t.
He mercifully made a way to reconcile our relationship with Him through the atoning blood of His son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus CHOSE to wash the feet of His betrayer. (John 13:14-15)
He CHOSE to be arrested. (Luke 22: 47-54)
He CHOSE to be mocked. (Matthew 27:27-31)
He CHOSE to be spit upon. (Matthew 26:67)
He CHOSE to be beaten with fists and slapped. (Matthew 26:67)
He CHOSE to be beaten until He was unrecognizable. (Isaiah 52: 14)
He CHOSE to wear a crown of thorns rather than His rightful royal crown. (Mark 15: 17)
He CHOSE to carry His heavy cross after been beaten. (John 19:17)
He CHOSE to be nailed to the cross. (Matthew 27:35)
He CHOSE to surrender His Spirit. (Matthew 27:50)
Why would He CHOOSE these terrible things?
He didn’t have to do it.
But, He CHOSE to do it.
He chose to do it because He loved us that much.
He chose to take the punishment for every single sin committed by every single person from the beginning of time forward.
EVERY SINGLE SIN.
That includes:
-every single lie
-every mean thought
-every unkind word
-every dirty look
-every malicious deed
-every murder
-every adulterous affair
-every curse word
-every angry outburst
EVERY SINGLE SIN committed by EVERY SINGLE PERSON.
He paid it.
He CHOSE to because He loves us that much!
I am so thankful He CHOSE to take the punishment for my sins.
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15: 13 KJV)
