When cancer calls, you answer. Maybe you recognize the number, and you manage to avoid answering the call. But, cancer is persistent. If you see the call and don’t answer, it will continue calling. It will leave voicemails. It will repeatedly dial your number and cause your phone to ring, until you can’t take it anymore and you finally answer….
When cancer calls, your doctors answer. Perhaps you have one doctor or an entire team of specialists working on your case. They study your test results, and use their training and expertise to find the best possible treatment options that fit your specific needs. The more compassionate doctors express their empathy with your struggles and fears….
When cancer calls, your family and friends answer. They call and check up on you. They visit you in the hospitals and when you come home. They sit for hours in hospital rooms or doctor’s offices….waiting with you. They send you encouraging cards or texts. They read Scripture over you as you wait for surgery. They hold your hand as you hear bad news. They prepare meals, help with pets, pick up medications, and cook and clean for you. They are there for you, and they consistently lift you up as they pray for your strength and healing…..
But, what if?
What if someone else could answer the call for you?
I am here to tell you that SOMEONE does!
When cancer calls, GOD answers.
Imagine answering that phone and having God take the phone from your hand and answer for you.
So when cancer hisses, “I am here,” He says, “I AM.”
When you are in pain, He soothes you.
~Psalm 147:3 “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
~Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
When you are scared, He gives you peace.
~John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
~Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
When you are weak, He gives you strength.
~Isaiah 40:29 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.”
~Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
~Psalm 22:19 “But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.”
He gives you day-by-day, EXACTLY what you need to survive that day, that hour, that minute.
~2 Corinthians 12:8-9 “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
As you tread this road, remember God is with you.
He walks with you every step of the way. He shows up in the eyes of your compassionate doctor, in the hands that prepare meals for you, and in the prayers that are lifted up on your behalf.
So, when cancer calls, just let Him answer. Call out to Him and He will walk every step of your journey with you.
~Jeremiah 33:3 (KJV) “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
